Los Angeles (CNN) - Legendary pop singer Whitney Houston was found dead Saturday at a Beverly Hills, California, hotel, officials said. She was 48.

The entertainer, whose incredible talent was discovered at an early age, was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. (6:55 p.m. ET) at the Beverly Hilton hotel despite resuscitation efforts, a police spokesman said.

Beverly Hills Police Lt. Mark Rosen said there were "no obvious signs of criminal intent" and that the cause of her death is being investigated.

Houston's bodyguard found her body, said Courtney Barnes, publicist for hip-hop artist Ray J, who was dating the pop diva.

According to her official website, Houston sold more than 170 million albums, singles and videos. But she also struggled with addiction problems over the years.

I was at a birthday party for my cousin,s 60th birthday when my son texed me about her death. My fondest memory of her was singing The greatest Love. I never knew that George Benson had originally made it. At the time I first heard it, I was in a very bad marriage and had no/nadda self esteem and was in a very bad place as well as extremley depressed. Now keep in mind that I am almost ten years older than her.I played that song everday, every waking moment. She really did teach me that the greatest love was inside of me. Much love, respect and peace to her family. She touched more people than she knew.Thank you Whitney, we love you and always will.

Sad to hear of legendary song bird Houstons death....there will be no other like her, what a gifted voice.

Piers Morgan, needs a correction, Madonna is the QUEEN of POP. Report factially, which is Madonna is the higest workwide sales artiest esp single artist...and the original Queen of Pop, Madonna sold over 300 Million, Whitney sold only 170 million. Tell Piers to stop his Negative "PR" campaing against Madonna. Piers is a News Corp ex cronie.
