Thirty-one states currently require voters to show ID to cast a vote.
Those in support of these laws say the use of identification is a normal part of everyday life, but some civil liberty groups say this requirement targets those who cannot afford to get the necessary forms.
In this video, NAACP CEO and President Benjamin Jealous explained to CNN anchor Suzanne Malveaux why he thinks it is "insane" people have to pay to get their ID to vote in a free democratic country.

I received a absentee voter application from my township. It was printed on an advertisement for Mitt Romney. Are Townships Bias in elections?
White privilege blankets minds in the warmth of ignorance.
It's only voter fraud if you are in lock step with LaRaza. Somehow Mexicans come here and think they are above the law because they know so many politicians and LaRaza will take care of them. LaRaza recruited blacks to bond with them and sadly they are making blacks their slaves. It's time blacks stood up for themselves, worried about "just getting along" as their hero Rodney King suggests, become Americans and work out their anger in a positive way. We were making a lot of progress getting along with whites and other Americans until LaRaza raised it's ugly head.
MARTIN LUTHER KING is turning over in his grave. the naacp isnt who he wanted them to be. they are race baiters. if it is a felony for me to show up at work without my 132 dollar department of homeland security identification then it should be a felony for a mexican to show up to vote without his 8 dollar state identification.
naacp stands for national advance of criminal perpetrators
The nerve of the naacp is mind boggling. I know they want illegal immigrants to vote, but this argument is sad.
How is the argument sad?
Oh yeah!? Then why do we need 2 forms of picture ID to chc
This is so liberals can fluff the numbers. Im a conservative democrat and i can see right through the naacp...and im black, irish and cherokee...so im very colorful
This is a bs way for non americans to vote. You HAVE to be a natural born citizen to vote. Take 25$ down to the DMV and buy a non driver ID. How hard is that? And im black.
You need an ID to show you are old enough to drink, smoke, and most employers require an ID when you apply for a job or some stores will ask for an ID when you use a credit or debit card. ID's are for the protection of the owner! So what is wrong with needing an ID to vote? I like that they require it so some random person doesn't come in and try to vote in my name! People need to get over all this crap about how this is oppression, class warfare, or racism! This is just common sense. I don't know how grown adults in today's society can function without an ID of some kind!
Oh boy! Here we go again.. Don't ask me for I.D. cuz im black. It's like Jim Crow.
REALLY??
or is it .... How will accorn committ voter fraud if we have to show I.D.?????
Bingo
Do you honestly believe that Voter's Fraud is a real concern in this country? Do you know how many cases of voter's fraud has been reported since 2000?-120 with 86 convictions within 2012 years. The fact of the matter is that Republicans can't secure the minority voters, so if they can't win them over why not deny them the right to vote? Minorities are less likely to have passports because chances are they won't be traveling abroad any time soon, or driver's licenses because they are less likely to have cars. These new laws are designed to target poor minorities and keep them from voting, that is why they are called the new Jim Crow Laws.
