Overheard on CNN.com: Reader 'feeling a bit dirty' for agreeing with KKK on litter pickup

Editor's note: This post is part of the Overheard on CNN.com series, a regular feature that examines interesting comments and thought-provoking conversations posted by the community.

You've probably seen those highway adoption signs emblazoned with the names of various local organizations. A North Georgia chapter of the Ku Klux Klan wants to adopt a one-mile stretch of Georgia State Route 515. The group is applying to receive state recognition for cleaning up litter in the Appalachian Mountains near the North Carolina border. The Georgia DOT is considering the matter, as are many of our readers.

KKK chapter wants to adopt stretch of Georgia highway

Some readers said the KKK just might have something there.

Techsupp0rt: "Agreeing with the KKK kinda leaves me feeling a bit dirty. They've got a point. If other racist organizations can do it, they should be able to as well. Treat all racists equally. You do gotta pick up the trash though."

This person would beg to differ.

Why don't they pick up all the garbage of racial tension, discrimination and good-ol' boy cliqueism that has been left behind after the race-hate party that they championed in this country for so many years? Because of it, most whites don't trust blacks, most blacks don't trust whites, all other groups are caught in the middle of this B.S. and the whole country suffers for it.

  2. Loyal Northern Democrat

It must be remembered that the KKK was formed by Democrats to combat the Republicans who flooded the south after the war. Most KKK members continue to be part of the great Democratic Party.

No, trust me, they are not Democrats. Are you trying to tell me that you think the KKK all voted for Obama?

I really need to stop reading CNN comments.

No, thanks, I don't want to see garbage picked up only to be replaced with hanged nooses and burning crosses. Compared to that, leave the garbage.

History lesson...such as the kkk used to be a good organization, the black confederates were freemen defending their land, and the south (especially SC) had black slave owners that owned euros. I do know history. Now put that flag down unless youre protesting taxes or real estate/land seizure by the fed because you and i both know they are the real reason for the civil war. Heres euro american males problem.....you can not band together properly...you even said it yourself. O and btw...im black

I wish these idiots would stop carrying the confederate battle flag. Makes me livid the way they ruin the image of that flag.

Compared with the history of Christians in general the KKK is a very gentle, peace-loving organization. It is a shame Christians are misrepresenting themselves and lying to their children. The KKK request should be allowed.

Atheists actually believe in God for the most part, but wont admit it. If they didnt, they wouldnt try so hard to disprove God and creationism.
