4 female war veterans sue U.S. military over policy against women in combat

By the CNN Wire Staff

(CNN) - Four servicewomen who have done tours in Iraq and Afghanistan filed a suit against the Defense Department Tuesday challenging the military's longstanding policy against women in ground combat.

Some of the plaintiffs led female troops who went on missions with combat infantrymen, according to the American Civil Liberties Union, which is representing the women.

"Their careers and opportunities have been limited by a policy that does not grant them the same recognition for their service as their male counterparts," the ACLU said. "The combat exclusion policy also makes it harder for them to do their jobs."

Awesome! More emotiional arguments from people who have NO idea what it means to be in an Infantry or other small unit, posted in a combat outpost on the border of Afghanistan (or any other war zone/austere environmet). Let's water down unit effectiveness, let's smash unit morale so that a few people can have their egos placated. I love the female repoorter comment "this woman won a Purple Heart for her Valor"...uhh...no. The military is not a social experiment, and combat is NOT an equal opportunity employer. Women make a valuable, honorable, and often heroic contribution to the military, it is a SHAME that a few (and the ACLU, gag) want to diminish that by focusing on an specific ingredient to an overall amazing recipe for success.

Fewer thatn 300 American women have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. More thatn 6,000 American men have been killed in those two wars.

I am sorry but women have no business on the front lines with the grunts(infantry).First off they are distraction,Until the day comes that women don't remind men of their wives, daughters, mothers or sisters men will try to protect them vs worrying about the mission at hand.As well as divorces are high enough in the military. Then you want some poor gal worrying about her husband having an intimate moment with his new female soldiers, But on a positive note if gay men can take open bay showers with other men, then straight men should be allowed to shower with women. The best way to test this is an all woman unit, then send then into a "hot zone and see how they do"

If men get distracted so easily, than maybe they shouldn't be allowed in the front lines.

I want to challenge what was stated on CNN this morning by the guest, Mr. Paul Kallen (sp?). He stated that women don't make as much money as men do in the military. Here are the facts: men and women are on the SAME pay scale and BOTH get the SAME hazardous duty combat pay when deployed to a combat zone. This is true for all military occupational specialties. I would like your "expert" to substantiate his claims....
